Painter and graphic artist Jakub Uksa has been part of the Prague graffiti scene since the 1990s, where he is known by the pseudonym OBIC. His relationship with lettering and form, influenced by his studies in applied graphics, draws inspiration from ancient and Oriental cultures. Jakub’s painting has gradually transformed from a graphic language to content-driven work, where meaning shifts toward color and composition. Ten years ago, he first exhibited canvases that build upon his public realizations with new colors and spatial experiments. His work is an intuitive freestyle, where every line and experiment with width and irregularity creates complex compositions. Jakub embeds elements of his personal mythology into his paintings, reflecting his travels through Asia as well as cosmic events or existential questions.
